Lanse aux Epines Lighthouse in Grenada

Only a few minutes from Beachside Way Boutique Hotel

The Lanse aux Epines Lighthouse is one of Grenada’s hidden gems. It’s located on the southernmost tip of the island and is a beautiful reminder of the country’s maritime past. It also has a great view of the Caribbean Sea. For guests at Beachside Way Boutique Hotel, this landmark is a peaceful and beautiful place to visit that is less than five minutes away. It is a great place to add to a morning walk, a sunset stroll, or a leisurely exploration of the coastline nearby.

More than a hundred years ago, the lighthouse was very important for helping ships find their way through Grenada’s southern approaches. Its strong frame and simple, timeless design are like the useful charm of early Caribbean beacons. But the fact that it is surrounded by bright tropical plants and the deep blues of the ocean makes it one of the most beautiful coastal viewpoints in the parish of St. George. People who come here often say that the area has a calming vibe. The gentle breezes and rhythmic sound of the waves make it a great place to relax and take pictures.

Travelers can see the Caribbean waters from the grounds around the lighthouse. The views are wide and clear. The horizon changes color on clear days, going from turquoise shallows near the rocks to deep cobalt as the sea gets deeper. The white lighthouse tower stands out against the wide Grenadian sky, making it a great place to take travel photos, engagement photos, and watch nature. Guests can come early to enjoy the soft morning light or late in the day to see one of Grenada’s beautiful sunsets. Either way, the experience is just as good.

Interpretive signs tell the story of the island’s surprising lighthouse history. Grenada has only ever had a few lighthouses, even though it has a strong seafaring culture. In the late 1800s, the first beacon was built on Fort George, which looks out over St. George’s Harbor. It has been inactive since 2017, even though it is important in history. In 1904, another small lighthouse was built at Pointe Saline. It was taken down decades later and moved to the Maurice Bishop International Airport as a decoration. Prickly Point Lighthouse, which is still in use today and is located near Lanse aux Epines, is the island’s only operational navigation beacon. It continues the tradition of guiding passing ships along the southern coast.

The Lanse aux Epines Lighthouse is more than just a historic marker for guests of Beachside Way Boutique Hotel. It is also a sign to slow down and enjoy the natural beauty of the peninsula. After looking out from the lookout, guests can walk through the quiet residential streets, enjoy the gentle sea views, or stop at nearby cafés and beaches, all of which are easy to get to from the hotel. The lighthouse is a simple but memorable place to get away from it all, whether you love history, photography, or just want to find Grenada’s quiet spots.
