When you want to “spice up” your vacation plans with some tempting island flavor and thirst-quenching on-the-water action, Grenada should be on your radar! This Windward Island, affectionately known as the “Spice Isle of the Caribbean,” is deserving of your well-deserved vacation time and will arouse your senses in the most delicious of ways.
Grenada’s population of only 120,000 people makes it a pleasant destination to visit because it is not overcrowded. Grenada has several attractions that make it a desirable destination, including breathtaking scenery, pristine beaches, snorkeling, spices, festivals, chocolate, and more.
There is a lot to see and do in Grenada, both on and offshore, but we’ve collected a list of some of our favorites to help you plan your island-hopping trip in this popular vacation destination.
Attend the many Spicemas Festivels

Grenada in the Caribbean hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, where you may have a great time while learning more about the culture.
The annual ‘Spicemas Festival‘ is the major event, which celebrates music, color, costumes, and good times. It starts in July and lasts until early August, when it gains steam with Carnival Monday and Tuesday celebrations.
Underwater Sculpture Park
Divers and snorkelers can visit the Underwater Sculpture Park in Moliniere Bay, just off Grenada’s western coast, to see the exquisite artwork that lives beneath the sea. The life-size sculptures made by Jason deCaires Taylor are best enjoyed up close, but for those who are not comfortable diving down to see the exhibit, glass-bottom boat trips are also available, allowing you to view the sculptures from a distance.

These are just a few of the reasons why Grenada should be on your bucket list. Visit the Town of St. George

St. George, Grenada’s colorful capital, is a must-see vacation destination, particularly for boaters who berth their yachts in the bustling harbor of Carenage. Both Fort Frederick and Fort George are located on St. George, where you can also visit the Grenada National Museum, which is housed in a former French jail with barracks from 1704. Soak up unlimited quantities of native Grenada culture while meandering through St. George’s Market Square, and chocolate lovers, keep an eye out for the fabled House of Chocolate!
Grand Anse Beach

There are many of postcard-worthy beaches in Grenada, but Grand Anse is well-known for its pristine beauty and protected location. This hallmark beach has soft white sand for over three kilometers, abundance of beachside bars, and excellent snorkeling opportunities.
Tour the River Antoine Rum Distillery

The Caribbean is all about having fun in the sun and drinking rum, so no Grenada holiday is complete without a tasting tour of the Antoine Rum Distillery, the Caribbean’s oldest operational water-powered distillery. When you tour this iconic factory, you can see the complete traditional rum-making process and, of course, taste some of the incredibly strong cane sugar liquor.
Visit Fort George

Fort Frederick, located in St. George, provides breathtaking panoramic views of Grenada. From the vantage points of this old French castle, visitors can see breathtaking Caribbean beauty as far as the eye can see.
Explore Sandy Island

For a real “deserted island” feel, visit Sandy Island, a picture-perfect length of palm-fringed beach and sea. There is a natural pool in the center of the island where you may relax and wash the salt from your skin. Sandy Island also has a protected marine area on its western coast that offers excellent snorkeling and diving conditions.
Levera National Park

Levera National Park, which covers 450 acres, is one of Grenada’s most picturesque locales. The gorgeous lagoon is an important natural habitat, particularly for a diverse group of bird species. Levera’s beach is breathtakingly breathtaking, and the surrounding waters are teeming with protected reefs that are best explored by snorkelers.
Concord Falls

Grenada has several beautiful waterfalls, including three at Concord Falls on the island’s west side. The first crisp, clean waterfall is easily accessible via a concrete route, but swimming in the second and third natural cascading wonders requires some scenic hiking first.
